The Setting

Here you can get a vague idea of who it was who left for Peru on their gap yea. You cannot find anything if you aren't lost.

Jungle

From volunteering on a frog and turtle breeding farm in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon to picking mushrooms with locals in Colombia, this chapter offers an extensive view of the opportunities and challenges the Amazon presents while following this novice traveler as he gets his first look at himself and the world around him.

Mountains

One of the most significant chapters of my Book, the Andes mountains are intimidating and literally breathtaking. They provided me treks, pueblito farm-working, and some epic truths.

Salt

From biking the Death Road and crossing the Salar de Uyuni solo to banding with gypsies, this chapter encompasses my journey throughout Bolivia, and ultimately into the San Pedro de Atacama desert of Chile.

Hitchin' and Pitchin'

Rich only in spirit, I now continue to hitchhike the 1st longest and 2nd most expensive country in South America from North to South to North while spending less than ever before. Here you'll find Chilean destinations, travel hacks, beautiful people, and what it means to hitchhike and trek over 8,000 kilometers of Chile hardly spending anything.

Returning

Crossing back into Peru meant a whole lot more than getting another stamp. This leads to my Return, possibly the most difficult chapter I've had. Featuring the Cordillera Blanca and a badass traveler, this was a beautiful and trying end to my first chapter.
